Edition #1 : The Erin Change Project

Hello March 1st.

Even though this all feels so foreign, strange, & new... Here goes EVERYTHING!

So, my updates will change I'm sure, but to avoid rambling, weird information, too much information, & pointless "Erin" facts. I've decided to format my posts as follows:
3 victories
3 struggles
3 insights / revelations / tips
a new recipe or two

okay.... GO!

- - - - - - - - - - - - -

VICTORIES:

1. (as of today 3/1/13) I've lost 5.8 lbs!!!!!!

2. since my start I've worked out the treadmill 5 times & done P90X three times (done is a loose term, let's just say I was sweating and my heart beat was racing infront of a TV with P90X playing on it!)

3. I said 'NO' to chips & salsa at Mexican restaurants the two times we went out (This is my personal weakness!)

STRUGGLES:

1. feeling very sure of what I shouldn't eat, but very unsure with what TO eat. (low calorie? low carb? no sugar? no fruit? low sodium? no dairy? oh, but don't let your body go into starvation mode!)

2. proactively planning a committed time & back up times to work out.  (naps unexpectedly end early, baseball practice runs late, art docent days sneak up, unplanned play dates, & much more quickly fills my day and allows for a very easy excuse to "busy away" my workouts!)

3. I HATE PAIN... (Have yet to "enjoy soreness"- Those people are still very weird to me!)

INSIGHTS / REVELATIONS / TIPS:

1. Running to music is AWESOME... Running to Addison Road's song "Change in the Making" HORRIBLE IDEA!! (I'm already a mess trying to run and just through in me sobbing... NOT PRETTY! Look up the song, you'll see!)

2. Prepped a veggie mix for a quick add to salad without pulling out the cutting board for every meal.

carrots, celery, cucumber, & orange bell pepper

1 cup = 30 calories!

Just added grilled chicken from dinner the night before & 2 tbls. of salad dressing = 250 calories!

3. Water is my friend. Meet my new friend.

ain't she pretty!

 RECIPES:
(this one isn't really a new recipe as much as it is one of my favorite breakfasts!)

FRUIT BOWL
1 Fuji Apple chopped
1/2 banana sliced
1/2 cup (4 oz.) Plain Nonfat Greek Yogurt
1/4 cup Granola (calories will vary depending which granola you use. I used Bare Naked Fit - Vanilla Almond Crunch.)
1/2 tablespoon Honey

370 calories & super YUMMY!!!

THE END... oh, yeah three more things.

Ok. ok. ok. so I'm going off the format all ready but just this one time... k?!??

1. The first week between salads and smoothies I consumed a whole pound of spinach.
The whole container.
The BIG one.
That's right, it didn't go bad in the back of the refrigerator. (this is big for us, sadly.)

2. MY HUBBY IS AWESOME!!
He was so sweet and surprised me with a present. A fitness present!
(which normally I would be have been annoyed and wanted to spend "Erin Present Money" on something totally impractical like Anthropologie toilet paper or something)
But he was really listening this time.
He got me a, well I don't know what it's really called, but it's a totally cool watch thingy... so fancy!
It reads my heart rate & distance traveled which then calculates calories burned... so I can have a better idea of how pathetic, I mean hard my work-outs are!!
THANKS BABE!! I love it.

3. THANK YOU. THANK YOU. THANK YOU. to everyone & anyone who has helped me in this crazy journey. Love you.
seriously. LOVE YOU!!!

See you April 1st.
Ok.
For real this time.
THE END.
